The Treachery of Images Lithography – René Magritte
For the very first time in Iran some exclusives and limited edition lithographs are presented at The Azad Art Gallery of Tehran curated by Arian Etebarian. “The absurd world of René Magritte” is showing the art of the Belgian Master of Surrealism, his world of fantasy in which well-dress men in bowler hats interacts in odd and mysterious spaces, where pipes, apples and trains coexist. With great talent and poetry, the Belgian artist takes us to his enchanted world of dreams where subconscious meets conscious.
René Magritte was a perfectionist who did not produce much during his lifetime. Before all, he was looking for the perfect meaning of his message, the precise gesture and the image.
A consultant for this new kind of exhibition in Tehran told us that she was “hoping that kind of project will inaugurate more interaction between Iran and The European artistic scene”. No doubt that from now on, interactions between the rich cultural Iranian arts and the European ones will be a new important focus.
